June 8 is First Responders Day, an opportunity to say ‘Thank you’ to the heroes who walk amongst us and, day after day, serve their community in often life-threatening situations.

Ironman legend Braden Currie dropped in to see Tammy Barker & Bodge this morning, in the lead up to the 2022 Cairns Airport Ironman Cairns event this weekend. During the interview, he spoke about the integral role first responders played in the complicated birth of his daughter.

The first person on scene during the devastating blaze at Croft Auto on May 31, was Cairns Fire Station’s Station Officer, Neil Gatty, who spoke on how the emergency services worked together to contain the blaze, to keep motorists and pedestrians safe, and how they stopped the spread of the fire to nearby buildings and homes.

Tammy & Bodge also put the call out to the people of Tropical North Queensland, giving them the opportunity to jump on and thank those first responders who have played a vital role in their lives, or in the lives of people they love.
