James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless have paid tribute to champion Australian batsman, coach and commentator Dean Jones, following his sudden heart attack at the age of 59.

Brayshaw - who played against Jones on multiple occasions throughout the 1990s and worked alongside him in cricket - had fond memories of Jones, both in the determination with which he played his cricket and the passion he held for it beyond his playing days.

He spoke highly of how competitive Jones was to play against, but on the other side of the coin how friendly and special he was off the field.

"He was a properly larger-than-life character," JB said.

"He had a massive heart. He was incredibly generous, he had time for everyone and he loved his girls, and by the way, they loved him. Janie, his beautiful wife, Isabella and Phoebs, they adored Deano.

"He was always larger than this life, but don't worry Fat - and you know this - he'll push his shoulders back and he'll walk into the next life and he'll be very confident he can dominate that one too. That's just what he's like."
