Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has urged Australians not to stress about the lack of supermarket supplies, stating Australia is one of the "best equipped" countries to bunker down for the coronavirus pandemic.

Hunt joined Kennedy Molloy on Wednesday afternoon with the latest news for Australians amid one of the worst pandemics seen.

“We have strong supplies. In terms of food, we are one of the best equipped - of not the best equipped - countries," he told Triple M.

“We’re in this for the long haul.”

Hunt said the latest information was 454 people have tested positive for coronavirus, a figure expected to be updated later on Wednesday.

“The latest advice I have is 454 cases. That will be updated later today,” he said.

"We interestingly and 81,000 tests, so that means 99 and a half per cent of people have tested negative."
