Eddie McGuire has responded on to Margaret Court’s claim that Tennis Australia treated her poorly on the 50th anniversary of her grand slam.

LISTEN HERE:

Court felt she was being discriminated against by Tennis Australia because of her controversial views on same-sex marriage, but speaking on the Hot Breakfast this morning, Ed felt the governing body had been patient.

“Margaret has said plenty of times what she believes, that’s her prerogative, we may not believe in what she has to say, but we’ll fight for her opportunity to say it,” he said.

“But at the tennis, where you’ve got international people there, you’ve got the whole idea is about inclusion.

“And if she was going to espouse something that was counter-intuitive to what Tennis Australia are wanting to promote, then I think Tennis Australia could not have done any more to help Margaret Court get through the situation.

“It’s a bit disingenuous now to come out and say that she was treated badly when clearly she was treated as well, if not better, than anyone in the history of the tournament.”
