Legendary broadcaster — and now senator — Derryn Hinch joined the Hot Breakfast this morning and hit back at what he called the “specious argument” that people are dying “with” coronavirus rather than from it.

"The one thing that’s getting me about all of this, and I know we’ve had people on your radio station saying the same thing, this specious argument about are people dying from coronavirus or with coronavirus," Hinch said.

"Now this is bulldust, it really is.

"Because you may have a heart condition, you may have cancer, you may be terminal, you may have bad asthma... you may be 60, 70, 80 years old, if you didn’t get coronavirus, you may live another one year, two years, five years or 10 years with your grandkids and your kids.

"So to suddenly say ‘did you die with it or from it?’ is absolute bulldust."

Hinch also discussed the need to give Melburnians hope, the State of Emergency extension, and more.
