The AFL secured an enormous line of credit from NAB and ANZ to keep the game on life support on Monday.

So Damian Barrett broke down how much the loan was and where it would go.

HOW MUCH MONEY DID THE AFL SECURE?

Barrett joined Triple M's Rush Hour with JB and Billy on Monday in the wake of the AFL securing the enormous loan, saying the money will be used to keep the clubs afloat and players paid as much as keep the league in operation.

"It's not straight to the AFL," he explained.

"It will obviously go to the players, it will go to the clubs. It's an industry-wide guarantee."

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan assured again on Monday that the loan was still due to the "most serious threat to our game in our history", and that the game was still set to lose hundreds of millions of dollars this year.

Barrett said the figure was "$600 million or thereabouts".

"It's a straight loan," he said. "It's going to have to be paid back!"
