Danny Frawley was suffering from the brain condition CTE before his passing last year, brain scans released by his widow Anita Frawley, have revealed.

Not a great deal is known about CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) - a condition associated with repeated blows to the head, which has been the cause of great debate especially in US sport - so this morning on Triple M's Hot Breakfast we invited Professor Christopher Rowe, an expert on brain health from Austin Hospital, to talk about the condition and its effects.

Professor Rowe explained all the potential symptoms for sufferers and we also talked about the risk to professional - and unprofessional - people who play sport.

That prompted a great call from Matthew whose footy club have their own experience of CTE.

If you can spare 10 minutes today, we recommend this whole discussion as a way of understanding CTE better and hopefully helping us all work to minimise its risk in future:

As we approach the one year anniversary of the passing of Danny 'Spud' Frawley, there's not a day goes by we don't think about him and miss him.

If you feel the same, here's the special tribute we put together for Spud last year.
